If you only have one day to spend on an outdoor adventure, make it a BIG day! We know how to make one day in the wilderness count. The maps are in our hands, the river current runs beneath our boats, and we want to take you with us! Experience the Colorado river by boat on 3 different river excursions. From the most intense one day whitewater rafting tour on the entire length of the Colorado river to the perfect river experience for families with kids.

River Rafting

Is your time squeezed so tight you can only afford one day on the river? Don’t worry! In this magical trip in the earth known as Westwater Canyon, you encounter 12 of the most agitated, brawling rapids to be found in the West! You get the most whitewater experience in the minimum time possible.

An expedition into Westwater Canyon delivers maximum whitewater in minimum time! This is an unforgettable escape into a unique backcountry canyon. Here the oldest layer of rock, the Pre-Cambrian Vishnu Schist erupts out of the belly of the earth. The schist rock glistens black in the sun before giving way to stunning red rock cliffs that tower above it. And oh, the whitewater you’ll see! As canyon walls squeeze the river into a tighter and tighter space, the river moves faster or more furiously, pouring over rocks and holes. In a small, lightweight row-raft you are as close to the action as you can get! This is a classic whitewater ride and the best you can find in one day anywhere in the West!

Westwater Canyon Rafting

Itinerary: Upon meeting at 7:00 a.m. at the Tag-A-Long office, you'll board vehicles for the ride to the river "put in" for Westwater Canyon rafting. Our guides will give you a brief safety orientation and outfit you with a life vest and then you're off on your Utah rafting adventure.

During the morning you'll have opportunity to get in tune with the river and soak up the gorgeous wilderness known as Westwater Canyon. See how many blue herons or eagles you can spot. The first point of interest is Wild Horse Canyon, a precursor to Westwater’s best whitewater and home to legendary tales of miners, outlaws, and Native American Indians. Here we run smaller 'warm-up' rapids before pulling off the river for lunch and a more thorough whitewater rafting safety briefing.

Westwater Canyon One Day Rafting Tour

The first rapid of Westwater Canyon is Little Dolores Rapid. We'll plunge into the fast-moving waters that await us! You'll hear more history and folklore as the raft speeds toward Marble Canyon Rapid, and then, hold on! The next succession of rapids flaunts names like Big Hummer, Funnel Falls, Surprise, Skull and Sock It To Me. You'll feel the punch of every one of them as your guides do their best to avoid the mysterious Magnetic Wall and Room of Doom! You'll exit the whitewater adventure on rolling and rumbling Last Chance rapid. The trip ends in the rhythm of the river with plenty of time to talk to each other or pick the brain of your seasoned, naturalist guide. At day's end, you will understand why we call this the best whitewater rafting adventure in Utah with more excitement and more of a backcountry wilderness experience than you can find anywhere in the American West! You'll depart from Cisco where Tag-A-Long shuttles wait to escort you back to Moab. Reserve Your One Day WESTWATER RAFTING TOUR ONLINE

River Rafting

Looking for the ULTIMATE Whitewater River Adventure possible? This is it!
This one day whitewater rafting vacation is 100 miles on the famed Colorado River from Moab to Lake Powell. The one-day Cataract Canyon raft, our Super J, is a special raft designed and built by Tagalong in 1999. New technology allows this powerful raft to cover flat water with the speed of a motorboat. With this versatility, amazing sites, previously only seen on longer river rafting trips, are available for you to explore.

Cataract Canyon offers 28 Grand Canyon style rapids. These are some of the most well known and respected whitewater rapids in the world; "Ben Hurt", Powell's Pocket Watch", "Capsize", and the three spectacular rapids in the "Big Drop" series, the steepest section on the mighty Colorado river.

ITINERARY: Day 1 – Lunch
The Colorado River Cataract Canyon rafting trip begins ain Moab Utah at 7:00 a.m. for a 7:30 a.m. departure. A short drive, a brief overview of matters, we launch! You will start the day on flat water enjoying the red rock cliffs and trying to spot eagles, hawks, bighorn sheep and mule deer. We point out locations of interest like petrified wood, ancient ruins, geologic wonders and historical sites. At noon, a stop for lunch at a delightful spot along the Colorado allows the guides show off their culinary skills.

The rapids begin beyond the Confluence of the Green and Colorado Rivers. A whitewater orientation is presented just before the rapids to let you know what to expect about rafting in Cataract Canyon. And then you're off pounding through the mountains and valleys of waves through red rock splendor occasionally dotted with wildlife.

After the last of the whitewater rapids, we quickly cross Lake Powell to Hite Marina. You must choose in advance a return option from Lake Powell to Moab or onwards to your next destination. Our favorite choice of returning to Moab is to board the Scenic Flight. The flight takes you up the Colorado River above the rapids just rafted in Cataract Canyon and over Canyonlands National Park before landing at the Canyonlands Airfield outside of Moab. Moab staff meet our rafting trips at the airfield, then transport visitors to town. Approximate time of arrival back to Moab with this option is 6:00 p.m.

Main Features: 100 Miles of Colorado River and 28 Grand Canyon style rapids in one day! This is the same trip as the longer Cataract Canyon Expeditions only faster. There will be only limited opportunities for hiking and swimming, but perfect for the serious whitewater enthusiast with a short amount of time.

SUITABLE FOR: People looking for BIG thrills without fear, families with children 12+ (8+ after mid-July), weekend warriors who still want big adventure!

Departs at 7:00 AM in Moab, UT. Returns to Moab about 5:00 PM - see Return Option
